Special Events Planning

The Office of Emergency Management supports large and small events on campus. The organization of multiple departments and coordinated logistics is a necessary function of an emergency response those functions usually apply to events on campus as well.  These plans developed with the event coordinator would serve as a vital first step if an emergency were to occur during the festivities.

Special Event Planning Thresholds


Note *Not all criteria must be met to initiate a plan. Please contact OEM at Emergency@ucr.edu.

  1. Notify appropriate support departments (Fire Marshal, Risk, EHS)
  2. Hold at least one planning meeting  prior to the event  with supporting departments
  3. Develop an emergency response plan
  4. Have an appropriate first aid kit
  5. "If You See Something, Say Something"
